Lipovsky divulges on "Leprechaun:Origins"!

I personally see it as a disgrace to make any "Leprechaun" film that has an attachment to the 1992 original, minus Warwick Davis. Who is famous for playing the title character. But Lionsgate and WWE Films are still moving forward with their franchise reboot, Leprechaun:Origins. Which will star WWE's Dylan Hornswoggle post, as the titular Leprechaun. Stephanie Bennett, Teach Grant, Bruce Blain, and Adam Boys...round out the cast of the flick. Slated to begin shooting soon, under the direction of one Zach Lipovsky.

Zach The aforementioned filmmaker recently blurbed to Crave in an interview, about what direction the new entry, due out February 28th 2014...will take. As most genre fans are still a bit miffed and fuzzy about "Origins" considering Lionsgate is producing the film, and they also own the rights to the other"Leprechaun" franchise that starred Warwick Davis. Lipovsky though, claims his film will set itself apart from the previous franchise of the same name. "Itís basically a complete refresh, reboot,Ē he tells Crave.

Adding..."Weíre not trying to copy or really do at all what the last one did. It kind of did what it was doing so well, thatís why they made so many of them, but weíre going a completely new direction and completely new world and everything which is why they were excited by what I brought to the table because I was pretty new to the whole Leprechaun thing myself. It was kind of what can we do to make something thatís a legitimate horror movie rather than something a bit more campy." I can't see "Origins" being scarier than "Leprechaun" '92 was. While that film isn't scary persay, it had its creepy moments here and there. And sure, casting WWE talent into horror films has worked before ("See No Evil" 2005). But a 7-foot hulking Kane, is far different than a 3 foot Hornswoggle.
